Trends of the 1940s

 

WWII is over!By the late 1940s, women craved a return to glamor and designers obliged with swirling skirts and shimmering evening gowns inspired by film stars like Ingrid Bergman, Barbara Stanwyck and Joan Crawford.

 

 

During the war, most women didn’t have enough money for tights, so they took eyeliner to paint a seam on the back of their legs to make them seem like they were wealthy. Sometimes, they even took teabags to color the legs.
